Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino
Laughlin Nevada

Not gonna lie, I've become a fan of Casino boondocking and Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino in Laughlin Nevada is fantastic and free! Although the signs all mention a 14 day limit, they have recently reduced that to 7 days with the potential to extend. Check-in is a process. First, pick an open numbered spot and pull in. Second, get your free player's card from the casino. Third, call security so they can come out and inspect you space. They will document you driver's license, your RV insurance, and your RV registration. If boondocking is not your jam, the resort owns and operates a 740 site full hookup RV park just across the street. The resort has many restaurants and pubs and there are 5 other resorts close by, some in walking distance. Inside Riverside Resort there is of course a casino but much more. There are 2 Pools, a Celebrity Theater for live shows, Riverside Cinemas with 6 theaters, 34-Lane Bowling Center, several bars, Losers' Lounge with Live Bands, a Day Spa, USS Riverside boat tours on the Colorado River, and much more.

Thousand Trails Las Vegas
Las Vegas Nevada

I booked 14 nights at the Thousand Trails Las Vegas as part of my Winter Program in preparation for the National Parks to the north. Little did I know the mountains surrounding the Las Vegas valley would have two snow storms during my stay. Southern California has it's first blizzard warning in decades. I was able to see pretty much everything I came to see in the area just well below 70 most of the time. The 205 site Thousand Trails Las Vegas doesn't have the best reviews so I was a bit apprehensive but as a Thousand Trails member, the price was certainly right. The campground has very limited amenities but it did have a good dog area, laundry facilities throughout, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, there are no permanent trailers there and the rental cabins look very nice. There are many traveling RVs that appear to be there long term however. The utilities were stable and my power pedestal looked new. My Verizon hotspot had a great signal and I was able to stream any content. All in all I couldn't call it home but it was a comfortable launch pad for activities in the area.

March 2023
Mesquite Nevada

After my time in Las Vegas, it's time to head north to Utah for the big five National Parks. Due to recent snow across the west I decided to stop 90 miles northeast of Las Vegas in Mesquite Nevada for 3 nights to take advantage of the best window of time to navigate these National Parks. I am so glad that I did not only for the weather but I discovered a hidden gem with Mesquite. I once again took advantage of Casino boondocking at Eureka Casino Resort. This place was perfect! Mesquite is a rapidly growing city with golf course communities everywhere and the construction continues with both new communities and expansion to existing golf course neighborhoods. The golf courses are top notch and stunning with modern high desert dwellings surrounding the courses. There are also unlimited amenities in each of these communities including tennis courts, pickle ball courts, clubhouses, playgrounds, and swimming pools. Being Nevada, of course there are a number of large casinos in town if that's your jam. If you are considering a place to settle down in retirement, you need to plan a trip to Mesquite Nevada. There are countless world famous places to visit within a half days drive of this fantastic little town!
