I booked 14 nights at the Araby Acres Encore Resort in Yuma AZ part of my Winter Program hanging out as far south a possible. In November of last year, I drove down to Yuma from Quartzsite to preview six Encore resorts and decided then to stay at Araby Acres first when in Yuma. Although most of the sites here have permanent trailers, there are plenty of spots for us traveling RVs. Much like Fiesta Grande RV Resort, Araby Acres is is truly a resort and the staff and neighbors are the nicest we've seen throughout our travels. The resort is age-qualified with 337 sites in total. I would save half of the cars in the resort are from Canada. There are 2 Pools, a Clubhouse, a Fitness Center, Whirlpool/Spa/Hot Tub, Street Curling, Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, Laundry Facilities, Billiards Room, Card Room, Business Center, Restroom & Shower Facilities, and a Picnic & BBQ Area. There are no Tennis or Pickle Ball Courts. Pets are welcome and Araby Acres has by far the largest dog park we've seen at any campground. I estimate it to be 200 yards by 40 yards. The location is great with plenty of food options nearby and Walmart is just over a mile down 32nd St.

I stored my trailer in the Coachella Valley for six weeks and took my truck alone back to Birmingham for Christmas and New Year as well as doing a little work at the rental condo in Panama City Beach FL. Days before returning west, my truck was parked in front of my mother's home when the neighbor's son across the street backed into it. I heard it and based on how loud it was, I thought it was serious. The truck was damaged but fortunately I was able to drive the truck with no problems. I knew I would be in the Yuma area for at least 2 weeks in February and the insurance company worked with me to sechedule the repairs at that time. I selected Rising Star Collision Center in Yuma for the repairs and Enterprise for my car rental. The collision center quoted a 5 day repair that was completed in 8 days. This was a hassle to be sure and I was not able to see many of the things in southern Arizona that I had planned to see but in the end, the $2,217.00 repair went almost as well as could have been expected. The repair and the car rental were both completely covered by insurance.

Yuma is one of many flash points for the Border Crisis and one national story is very close to where I stayed for two weeks. In short, The Yuma Regional Medical Center is on the brink of collapse without sufficient funding. The financial problem started over a year ago with the huge influx of Illegal Immigrants coming to the hospital and receiving uncompensated (Free) care. The Medical Center tracked their uncompensated care for a period of over six months, and calculated they provided over $20 million in uncompensated care solely to Illegal Immigrants. The CEO stated that the migrants have been the hospital's only patients who have received free care. I drove through this Medical Center and it is quite large and provides medical service to a very large area. Southern Arizona cannot lose this facility and it's time for the Federal Government to provide funding for it's failed Border Policy and the collateral damage the failed policy is causing communities across the country. That's my Two Cents.

Because of the truck repair in Yuma I was not able to see and document as much as usual but that changes Today! I'm headed North from Yuma with many places to go. See you again in one week.
